Duran Duran to make 3rd visit to Korea
They’ve released 22 albums. With record sales of more than 100 million, they’re one of the most successful bands of all time. They’re still the prettiest boys in rock (although they’re slightly older now). They’re Duran Duran and they will be performing at Olympic Hall in Seoul on March 12.
Duran Duran will touch down in Korea for the third time. They first performed here way back in 1989 and more recently in 2008.
The 2008 concert was a huge success. When frontman Simon Le Bon greeted the Olympic Gymnasium crowd with “Annyong haseyo, Korea,” the place exploded. “You're all amazing,” he added.
When he hits the stage at Olympic Park at 8 p.m., you can expect more of the same.
The band released their 13th studio album All You Need Is Now in December 2011.
The current Asian tour takes them through Singapore, Hong Kong and Korea before heading to Australia.
Hailing from Birminghan, the U.K., Duran Duran released their first album in 1981. They have also released two best-of and two remastered records. Over the years, those albums have included 18 Billboards Hot Singles and 30 U.K. Top 40 Singles.
All You Need Is Now is co-produced by Mark Ronson — producer of Amy Winehouse and Adele — and Spike Stent, producer of Madonna and Bjok.
“Girl Panic,” the second single from the new album, has been viewed more than 5 million times on VEVO. The 9-minute video includes five supermodels — Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen and Yasmin LeBon. It depicts the timeless character of the band — glamorous and humorous.
Tickets will cost between 99,000 won and 132,000 won.
