Fans of electronic music will no doubt be familiar with the name EDX.
The Switzerland-based DJ and producer has travelled the world many times over and released countless tracks and remixes during his career, as well as made many contributions to house music. Other accolades include spending the summer of 2011 in residency at the world’s No. 1 club, Space, Ibiza, and being named one of the top three progressive house artists by Beatport, along with Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz.
“Definitely a great experience to return for a huge festival to Seoul after that many years. The experience, stage setup and Korean fans were simply insane,” he said in an email interview with Groove. “One of the moments you keep in your heart during your journey.
“The crowd simply forgot about the weather and kept going all day.”
It was just one stop in Asia that month for the DJ. He said that with the continent being so large, it wouldn’t be right for him to choose just one favorite place along his tour, especially when all the shows that month were “simply amazing.” EDX said he can’t wait to return in 2017.
Also in October, he released his latest track “High On You,” which followed a free track called “Omerta” that he released as a gift for his fans and friends. He said that he may release a vocal version of “Omerta” soon, and has a new remix for a great artist in the works.
EDX said that he loves making remixes because he sees it as a collaboration between many people.
“The songwriter to the lyrics, the singer with the voice and touch and the artist with a musical vibe. As a remixer it’s simply a great experience to try and add your own signature to a remix and evolve the music to a different level or target,” he said.
“My main motto is to ‘make people smile’ and this is what I try to bring to my productions. I want people to hear my music and feel good.”
And of course, there is the touring. Currently, EDX is traveling around the U.S. on his High On You winter tour. Just recently, he performed at the Electric Butterfly Music Festival in Montego Bay that ran from Dec. 17-18. He is planning to return to Asia in the new year.
“Music is traveling each day and sometimes a new hype starts somewhere and then spreads to other countries. The fact that House Music has now started to take over Asia as well makes me really feel excited about the coming months,” he said.
