The British Chamber of Commerce in Korea (BCCK) hosts their monumental end of the year Christmas Lunch, returning to the Four Seasons Hotel on Friday December 2. The guest list is expected to serve more than 450 guests from over 300 companies as the ultimate British Christmas Lunch experience comes to Seoul.
British Ambassador Charles Hay, BCCK Chairman Steve Duckworth and BCCK CEO Sean Blakeley will be joined by both business leaders from the British Council, the British Embassy and the Korea Britain Society amongst a host of guests from their member companies.
The Christmas Lunch sees no shortage of entertainment either with a number of performances by local groups taking to the stage. The Seoul Foreign British School Senior Choir will give a performance while the British Salvation Army will play both before and during the lunch with some traditional Christmas sounds. Pentasonic, a four piece from Seoul, will also bring their contemporary sound to the stage while the Camarata Music Company perform some of those more renowned festive carols in perfect harmony.
Special guests will also include Santa Claus himself and in addition to the performances, the guests are also expected to provide the entertainment. Be prepared for the biggest and loudest rendition of “The 12 Days of Christmas” as all tables will be gently encouraged to sing-a-long in the competition. Show your own creative performance skills, your powerful vocals or party spirit – and you could even win a prize.
The lunch itself will offer all guests a traditional four-course lunch including a choice of cuts, all the trimmings and a delightful Christmas dessert tray. All meals also come with an individual Christmas cracker and accompanying red and white wines to get everyone into the party spirit. Enjoy each course as the entertainment plays in the background with guest speakers from the British Embassy and BCCK also reviewing the year.
The annual lunch aims to serve all guests a networking opportunity, bringing together the Korean and British communities who have been working together this past year. The lunch also supports its good causes through its charity raffle. BCCK have long supported the Jeon Jin Sang Centre, which provides medical and palliative care, after-school care and scholarships for its citizens and the Myongdo Welfare Centre which helps over 700 children and adults with various disabilities. The BCCK is also offering the BCCK Chevening Scholarship again this year. In conjunction with the British Government’s international awards scheme, the scholarship allows for a business and/or international trade and economics graduate student to be sent to study in the UK.
“The annual Christmas Lunch is one of our signature events during the year,” says BCCK CEO Sean Blakeley. “It puts all our members and their guests into a holiday frame of mind to raise funds for good causes. We are really looking forward to the celebrate Christmas and the end-of-the-year this way.”
The BCCK Christmas Lunch is the social event of the year, bringing together the local community for a taste of a traditional Christmas celebration. Santa has his ticket booked – and there’s still time to get yours.
