Beyond Dirt Knees: A Home Soil Production

Written and performed by Ryan M. McKelvey, "Beyond Dirt Knees" is an investigation of McKelvey's history and sexuality. The performance builds itself around a specific experience he had with an older man nearly three times his age. Through media, memories and movement, "Beyond Dirt Knees" speaks of family, self and sex as it asks: How is one’s language of identity written? Is identity malleable or is it set from childhood? How does experience fit into the manifestation of self? It is these experiences, and only them, which have made us who we are today, why would we ever want to take them back?

Details: The show is July 20 @ 9 p.m., July 21 @ 4 and 8 p.m., July 22 @ 4 p.m. Admission is 10,000 won (representing a full donation to Chingusai, a Korean LGBTQ organization).

Directions: Gallery Jungdabang Project in Mullae is a 5-10 minute walk out of Mullae Station, exit 1. For more, visit homesoil.org or find them on Facebook.
